Morphological features and characteristics of eastern rocket seeds

Family: POPPY (PAPAVERACEAE)

BRASSICACEAE FAMILY Pods are dehiscent. Length 60–100 mm, width 1–1.2 mm. Seeds are oval-folded, compressed, trapezoidal. Obliquely truncated at the top, the base is almost squarely truncated. On one side, the seeds are slightly convex; on the opposite side in the middle part, they are clearly triangular-convex, divided almost completely into two equal parts by a groove. At the base, there is a barely noticeable white film. The seed hilum is covered with a white film. The surface is finely dotted, slightly glossy. Color is reddish-brown, grayish-brown. Length 0.75–1 mm, width 0.5 mm, thickness 0.25–0.5 mm. Infests grain crops and meadows. Toxic properties: specified above. Distribution: in the European part (Black Sea region, Crimea, Caucasus).
