BRASSICACEAE FAMILY Silicles are elongated-oval, multi-seeded. Length 5 8 mm. Seeds are oval-compressed, angular. The embryo is clearly visible along the seed margin, resulting in a shallow groove and a narrow border-rim running parallel to the seed edges. The seed hilum is in a wedge-shaped notch, with a remnant of the funiculus. The surface is punctate, lustrous, matte. Color is brownish-brown, grayish-green; the remnant of the funiculus is yellow. Length 1.5 1.75 mm, width 1.5 mm, thickness 0.4 0.5 mm. It infests all types of grain and industrial crops; grows along roads. Distribution: European part (everywhere, except the Far North), Caucasus, Western and Eastern Siberia, Central Asia. Toxic properties: indicated above.
