Legume crops occupy a central place in modern agriculture, ensuring biological nitrogen fixation and increasing soil fertility. For the successful cultivation of these plants, both the agronomist and the home gardener need to understand the complex biochemical processes occurring within the plant organism, as well as master modern methods of plant protection for sowings. A competent approach to nutrient and crop protection management allows not only for increasing yield but also for laying the foundation for sustainable agricultural production for years to come.

In this selection, we have gathered materials covering both fundamental and applied aspects of agronomy. Readers will become acquainted with the history of the development of the domestic scientific school of agricultural chemistry, established through the works of D. N. Pryanishnikov and K. K. Gedroits. Special attention is paid to the role of micronutrients in plant life: in particular, the mechanisms of boron uptake and its influence on the development of biopolymer structures are analyzed in detail. Furthermore, the articles highlight modern methods of biological plant protection, including the application of preparations based on Bacillus strains and actinomycetes for the control of phytopathogens.
