The 2026 World Dairy Congress was held in Hohhot
The international congress was organized by the Yili Group. The main discussion agenda of the event focused on the implementation of technological innovations, building partnerships, and developing an environmentally sustainable dairy production model. The congress was attended by heads of industry associations, food technology experts, and representatives of the international dairy sector.
During the opening ceremony, the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST) designated Hohhot as the World Dairy Capital. IUFoST Executive President Pavinee Chinachoti noted that this decision underscores the city's contribution to the development of the industry and is intended to help strengthen the leadership of technology-driven enterprises, such as Yili Group, in the global healthy nutrition market.
Yili Group Chairman and President Pan Gang emphasized in his speech the need to find joint solutions to overcome global challenges, including climate change, supply chain restructuring, and growing technological requirements. He highlighted the importance of integrating digital solutions throughout the entire production chain and creating an international experience-sharing network to ensure sustainable development.
Important milestones of the congress included the launch of the Dairy Intelligent Data Center and the opening of a high-quality dataset factory. In addition, the National Technology Innovation Center for Dairy (NTICD) presented ten significant achievements of 2026. The developments cover dairy livestock breeding, feed reduction and substitution technologies, research into probiotic strains for breast milk, industrial production of lactoferrin, automated quality control systems, and packaging recycling.
