Edamame harvesting has started in Nakasatsunai.

In the village of Nakasatsunai, which is one of the key centers for edamame cultivation in Japan, harvesting is in full swing. Local farms, in particular Sato Farm, are using specialized machinery to gather the crop, which has reached maturity.

Specialists note that the current 2026 season is characterized by a favorable climate. Significant diurnal temperature fluctuations, typical for this region, contribute to the formation of high flavor quality in the legumes. According to Takumi Sato from Sato Farm, the state of the harvest is assessed as promising: the beans are well-developed and tightly fill the pods.

The harvesting process is expected to continue until mid-September. According to JA Nakasatsunai forecasts, the total volume of the harvest within this jurisdiction will amount to approximately 3000 tons. After the harvest is completed, fresh produce will be sent to markets across the country, and will also be available at direct sales points within Nakasatsunai.
