WACOT and the Edo state authorities have extended the fertilizer production agreement
WACOT Limited has extended its cooperation with the Edo State government aimed at developing domestic fertilizer production, improving farmers' access to essential resources, and strengthening food security. This agreement covers the operations of the Edo State Fertiliser and Chemical Company Limited plant in Auchi, which has been functioning since 2017 and supplies specialized fertilizers to farmers across Nigeria. WACOT Limited is part of the Tropical General Investments Group (TGI Group).
President of the Fertilizer Producers and Suppliers Association of Nigeria and Director of Corporate Communications at TGI Group, Sadiq Kassim, noted that the plant in Auchi is of strategic importance. According to him, it is the only facility in the South-South region capable of producing customized fertilizer blends tailored to local soil conditions, as well as manufacturing specialized chemical mixtures for the North-East, where organizing production has been hindered by security challenges.
Managing Director of WACOT Limited, Naveen Chaurasia, emphasized that the renewal of the arrangement reaffirms the company's long-term commitment to the agricultural transformation of Nigeria and Edo State. He recalled that since 2017, the partnership has proven its capability to revive dormant assets and deliver real benefits.
On behalf of the Edo State leadership, Commissioner for Business, Trade, and Investment Omo Anabor stated that the agreement fosters industrial development, attracts private investment, improves access to agrochemicals, enhances food security, and creates new jobs and business opportunities in Auchi and other areas of the state.
