Next year, New Zealand will host participants of the 2027 World Jersey Cattle Conference. The three-week tour will cover farms, industry leaders, specialists, and the country's genetic achievements. The main theme of the event is announced as "Generation Next": the organizers plan to discuss the vectors of breed development taking into account technology, innovation, genetics, efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

President of the World Jersey Cattle Bureau, Alison Gibb, described Jersey cattle as the "green cow" due to their high efficiency. According to her, a 450 килограммов livestock animal weighing 450 килограммов is capable of producing 450 килограммов of dairy products in dry matter, while heat tolerance makes the breed popular in regions like Africa. In turn, data from the DairyNZ national livestock animal evaluation confirm the high performance of Jersey cows in breeding and production value, while current selection takes into account productivity, fertility, functional survival, and efficiency.

More than 80 delegates representing up to 39 member countries of the bureau are expected to arrive. For the JerseyNZ organization, the forum will coincide with its 125th anniversary. Alison Gibb noted that New Zealand has the largest population of Jersey cattle in the world, despite its gradual decline within the country.

The program will begin in February of next year and last for six days, after which participants will be offered optional trips across the North and South Islands. The event plan includes trips to the Zenith and Ebboni dairy farms in Taupiri, a visit to a bull farm and the LIC methane research farm, industry presentations, and participation in the Jersey Pride Sale auction.
