A strong bee colony requires not only hive management practices, but also the availability of nectar, pollen, water, and suitable conditions year-round.

The honey business depends directly on flowering cycles, geography, and weather conditions, since nectar availability varies by season and landscape, and the foraging composition determines the character of the honey. Ecosystem health acts as part of the supply chain: the landscape provides bees with feed, pollinators support the crop ecosystem, and the biological processes behind a jar of honey cannot be accelerated by production capacities.
