The new Jameel Dates Award has honored date producers in Saudi Arabia
On September 6, at the Buraidah International Dates Carnival, the launch of a new award, the Jameel Dates Award, took place. The award was established by Abdul Latif Jameel Motors and the Community Jameel Saudi Foundation to annually honor date farm owners who demonstrate high results in product quality, safety, responsible land tillage, and the application of agricultural practices.
The inaugural season of the award focused on officially registered farms growing the "Sukkari" cultivar date in the Al-Qassim region. Over 50 registered farms applied to participate in the contest. The evaluation was conducted by technical experts based on established criteria of an independent selection process. The winner of the first season was Alhajraciyah Organic Farm, which was presented with a trophy and the keys to a new 2027 Toyota Hilux pickup truck at the carnival's closing ceremony.
Hassan Jameel, Vice Chairman of Abdul Latif Jameel in Saudi Arabia, noted in his statement that the award is intended to pay tribute to the labor of farmers who raise the standards of quality, safety, and responsible farming in the agricultural sector.
The partners included the Community Jameel Saudi Foundation, whose activities have reached more than one million people in the Kingdom, as well as the Buraidah International Dates Carnival as the hosting and technical party. The Al-Qassim region counts more than 11 million palm trees and annually exports over 500,000 tonnes of produce to more than 100 countries, while Saudi Arabia's total figures amount to about 1.9 million tonnes annually.
