The monitoring results of English farmers' opinions for April 2026 have been published.

In April 2026, the latest stage of the Farmer Opinion Tracker research took place, during which specialists examined the attitude of English agricultural producers towards Defra's strategy for the agricultural sector. Respondents were invited to evaluate the government's vision for farming development, business planning issues, and the nature of interaction between farmers and relevant groups, as well as the department itself. In addition to answering standard questions, participants in the study were given the opportunity to provide additional comments.

According to the updated regulations, this monitoring has been conducted on an annual basis since April 2025. The ministry explains that the transition to such a schedule allows for tracking long-term trends and recording changes in farmer sentiment, while maintaining the possibility of comparing results. Furthermore, reducing the frequency of surveys is aimed at lowering the administrative burden on agricultural producers themselves and improving the efficiency of government structures.

Data sets and time series that include statistical information collected since September 2019 are available for analytical work. The relevant department of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs is responsible for data collection, assessing agricultural prospects, and publishing the corresponding statistics.
