On Monday, the Kano State House of Assembly held a plenary session chaired by Speaker Jibril Falgore, during which the consequences of the natural disaster were discussed. The appeal to Governor Abba Yusuf was prompted by an address from the member representing Tudun Wada Constituency, Suleiman Shuwaki.

The parliamentarian reported that a heavy downpour last Thursday caused flooding in the town of Shuwaki, located in the Tudun Wada Local Government Area. As a result of the disaster, over 200 rice fields of local farmers were destroyed.

In addition to agricultural land, the disaster destroyed a historic bridge on the Tudun Wada–Shuwaki road. This disrupted transport links and negatively impacted the socio-economic life of the community, hindering the movement of local residents and students, as well as access to agricultural land.

The deputy called on the state authorities to promptly send humanitarian aid to the affected residents and farmers, and to rebuild the destroyed bridge and road. The initiative was supported by the member representing Gezawa Constituency, Abdullahi Kara. Following the discussions, the House adopted the proposal and urged the state government to expedite action.
