The government of Madhya Pradesh has increased the procurement quota for mung beans and suspended the e-token system.

As a result of negotiations between state government representatives and leaders of agricultural unions held in Bhopal, the authorities have agreed to increase the volume of state procurement of mung bean from 25% to 60% of the harvest of each eligible farm. This measure, aimed at supporting producers, comes into effect immediately for farmers in districts such as Narmadapuram, Sehore, and Harda, where the average yield is about three quintals per acre.

For the convenience of agricultural producers, the government has extended the deadlines for the procurement campaign until August 20, and the slot booking period until August 10. Previously, farmers operating under the aegis of Samyukt Kisan Morcha and a number of other organizations demanded the procurement of 100% of the summer mung bean harvest at the established Minimum Support Price (MSP).

In addition to procurement quotas, the parties discussed the availability of fertilizer for the upcoming sowing season. State Agriculture Minister Aidal Singh Kansana announced the establishment of a special commission that will evaluate the shortcomings of the current e-token system for fertilizer distribution and develop recommendations for its improvement. Until the work of this commission is completed, the use of the e-token system is suspended.

Union Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in turn, explained that the federal center has already approved a procurement quota in the state of 4,54,580 metric tons of summer mung bean under the Price Support Scheme for the 2025–26 season. He emphasized that any procurement beyond the established federal limit must be carried out by the state government.

Following the announcement of the government decisions, Pratik Sharma, coordinator of the Rashtravadi Kisan Army, confirmed the satisfaction of the farmers with the reached agreements. The participants of the protest actions, who had previously blocked traffic on Narmadapuram Road and held demonstrations outside the residences of officials, have begun to return home.
