The Future Farmers NZ organization has presented a development strategy for New Zealand's agricultural sector.

The Future Farmers New Zealand movement grew out of private farmer discussions initiated in 2021 by Finn Ross of Lake Hāwea Station. The goal of the collective was to address challenges and seek new opportunities in the food and fiber production sector. In 2023, the organization was officially registered as a charitable entity.

Today, the network comprises over 150 individuals, including about 50 active members. The community consists of agronomists, farmers, researchers, consultants, entrepreneurs, and students. Management is carried out by a volunteer board, and activities are funded through donations, grants, and sponsorship support.

Co-chairs Aimee Blake and Daniel Kenna note that the organization maintains a non-partisan approach. Members strive for constructive dialogue, combining practical farming experience with academic knowledge. An important area of work is collaboration with partners such as AgriFutures to attract youth into agriculture through practical work on farms.

A key document for the organization is its manifesto, which contains seven thematic areas: land management, forestry and carbon credits, education, farm management, well-being (hauora), supply chain innovation, and markets and finance. According to Aimee Blake, this document serves as a basis for discussing practical measures to strengthen the resilience of the agricultural sector.
