The fourth Mei-Ramew café opened in Ladmawflang
The project was implemented on the initiative of NESFAS with the support of LIC HFL Sangam. The new facility is managed by the Ladmawphlang Primary Agro-ecological Cooperative Society. The main objective of the project is to connect farmers, local producers and buyers, as well as to strengthen the community food economy.
During the opening ceremony, Sohra Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Gavin M. Mylliem noted that the project will help farmers, improve living standards and open up prospects for the youth. He urged residents to monitor the quality and safety of products while preserving national culinary traditions.
Sohra Member of District Council (MDC) Titostar Well Chyne recalled the opening of the community traditional cafe two years ago, praised its success and advised the cooperative to develop the initiative to create new jobs.
NESFAS Executive Director Pius Ranii explained that the opening of the facility fits into the organization's overall work to support community-led local food systems, biodiversity and livelihoods. The opening ceremony was accompanied by folk songs, phawar performances and a traditional feast.
