The BATN Foundation supported women in Jigawa with a poultry project
Two hundred women in Jigawa State received poultry, feed, and medications from the BATN Foundation. The initiative was implemented under the EMPOWER-Her Poultry Project, which aims to improve household incomes and enhance food security. The program was launched on September 4, 2026, in the state capital, Dutse. The support was preceded by training participants in the basics of poultry production and enterprise management.
The project is implemented in cooperation with the Jigawa State Government and development partners. Its goal is to provide women from rural communities with production resources and skills to establish a sustainable poultry business. As noted by BATN Foundation Project Manager Adetola Oniyelu, the assistance is designed not only to provide participants with resources, but also to help them build reliable sources of income, strengthen economic resilience, and contribute to their families' nutrition.
As assistance, the women received Noiler poultry, feed, and medications. The received resources and practical skills are intended to help them run a poultry business, which enables rural households to generate income from the sale of meat and eggs, as well as to improve the supply of animal protein to communities.
The event was attended by officials, including Jigawa State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Muttaka Namadi, Commissioner for Women Affairs Hadiza Abdulwahab, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Auwalu Ado Shehu, and Project Manager Adetola Oniyelu. Government representatives urged the beneficiaries to handle the allocated assets with care and run their businesses on a sustainable basis.
