The Act party presented its agricultural program for the 2026 elections

Agricultural spokesperson for the party Andrew Hoggard announced plans to relieve farmers from the excessive bureaucratic requirements that he himself faced throughout two decades of farming. According to him, regulations imposed by officials in Wellington create additional difficulties for farmers.

The party's manifesto includes abandoning climate measures which, in the authors' view, create only an economic burden. In particular, plans include abolishing the Climate Change Commission, repealing the Net Zero Target and the Zero Carbon Act, as well as excluding agriculture from the emissions trading scheme. In addition, it is proposed to abandon the freshwater protection concept Te Mana o te Wai and other similar initiatives.

Other Act proposals include introducing a rural work visa to hire staff, toughening penalties for illegal dumping, and permitting targeted grazing on suitable Department of Conservation land to combat weeds and wilding pines. The program also provides for increasing the number of rural police patrols by 100,000 hours, creating a specialized rural crime unit, and strengthening penalties for livestock rustling.

To support rural residents, plans include around-the-clock use of electronic parcel lockers for medication dispensing, allowing rural children to use empty seats on existing school buses, and lifting unnecessary restrictions on the use of agricultural drones. The political force intends to prioritize property rights, make national standards clearer and more practical, and halt government interference in farmers' commercial decisions.
