Rice harvesting has begun in Bhojpur district
On the hilly terraces of the region, the main grain harvest has ripened, painting the landscapes in golden tones with the onset of the Nepali month of Kartik. As local resident and farmer from Bhojpur-6 Municipality Sangita Khadka noted, field work resumes immediately after the conclusion of the Dashain festive rituals, which include receiving tikka and jamara, as well as family feasts.
Farmer from Bhojpur-5 Municipality Bhimsen Phuyal points out that after the holidays, farmers are fully focused on cutting the stems, tying them into bundles, threshing, and placing the grain into storage. Due to the steepness of the slopes, the use of specialized machinery is difficult here, so the traditional armaparm mutual aid system is used for harvesting, where neighbors and family members work together.
Thanks to favorable weather conditions, timely monsoon arrival, and sufficient irrigation, farmers expect to obtain a higher yield this year compared to previous seasons. The successful completion of harvesting and placing the grain in storage brings long-awaited relief to the farmers.
