Presco Plc expands its training program for the agro-industrial sector
The Nigerian agro-industrial company Presco Plc, part of the SIAT Group, has summed up the results of the first stage of its training program. In Benin City, 33 young specialists graduated after successfully completing training under the SIAT Academy Graduate Trainee Programme and are moving on to the next stage of the management traineeship program.
The initiative, launched in 2025, is a one-year platform that combines classroom training, hands-on work, and mentoring. The first cohort included 50 graduates who began classes in July and September 2025. They underwent practical training at the group's facilities in Edo, Delta, and Rivers states, as well as in Ghana.
Group Managing Director Adewale Arikawe noted that investments in human capital are just as important to the company as investments in plantations, mills, and technology. Academy Director Reinout Impens added that the first cohort allowed participants to gain real production experience. In turn, one of the graduates, Michael Omi, emphasized that the program helped him gain valuable technical experience and understand the industry's operations.
As part of the project's expansion, the company announced the recruitment of a second cohort comprising 70 trainees, which is 40 percent higher than the initial intake. The SIAT Academy program aligns with Nigeria's National Agricultural Technology and Innovation Policy (NATIP) for 2022–2027 and also supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Presco Plc integrates oil palm plantations, processing, refining, and packaging facilities, as well as West Africa's first biogas plant for processing mill effluent. In turn, the parent structure SIAT Group specializes in oil palm and rubber plantations and employs over 17,000 people in Nigeria, Ghana, and Côte d'Ivoire.
