Parijat Industries released the herbicide Context for wheat

Plant protection

The Context product is designed for the rabi 2026 season and targets key wheat-growing regions, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The new post-emergence herbicide is a pre-mixed formulation combining two active ingredients: fluroxypyr (a synthetic auxin, HRAC group 4) and metribuzin (a photosystem II inhibitor, HRAC group 5). This combination provides two distinct herbicidal modes of action.

Multi-location field trials of the product were conducted in select districts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, showing high results when applied at recommended rates and timings. The ready-to-use combination saves farmers from having to mix components themselves, simplifying solution preparation, reducing farm labor complexity, and decreasing the number of repeated spraying operations.

As Uday Raj Anand, CEO of the domestic business division of the company, noted, this product expands the portfolio of herbicides for wheat and aims to solve real-world problems for farmers in combating difficult broadleaf weeds. In turn, Surender Agarwal, Head of Strategic Marketing, pointed out that such weed plants as lamb's quarters (Chenopodium album), dock species (Rumex), swinecress species (Coronopus), and black nightshade (Solanum nigrum) continue to pose challenges in the fields, competing with wheat for soil moisture, nutrients, and sunlight.
