In Texas, an investigation is underway regarding a major fraud case involving livestock procurement.

The Leon County Sheriff's Department reported the indictment of 25-year-old Peyton Dean Carroll. The young man is charged with a felony: second-degree livestock theft. According to the case files, the subject illegally acquired 77 head of cattle belonging to Buffalo Livestock Marketing, Inc., using invalid checks for payment.

Investigation procedures for this incident were initiated by the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division on July 17 following the receipt of a corresponding report. During the investigation, representatives of the agency coordinated with a number of specialized entities. In an official statement, the sheriff expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the Buffalo Police Department, the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and the Navarro County Sheriff's Office.
