The government of Odisha has ordered the inspection, repair, and restoration work on 1,658 irrigation facilities of the Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC) that were damaged due to recent incessant heavy rains and floods. This issue was reviewed at a high-level meeting involving Deputy Chief Minister, Minister of Energy, Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, as well as Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management Suresh Pujari.

Suresh Pujari emphasized the importance of a detailed assessment of the damage caused to the infrastructure during the inclement weather and demanded prompt on-site inspections. According to him, it is necessary to accelerate restoration measures for the earliest resumption of system operations. Timely restoration requires coordinated work between the Energy Department, the Department of Water Resources, and the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner.

The Department of Revenue and Disaster Management is monitoring the restoration of affected public facilities and holding regular meetings with relevant agencies to assess the damage and intensify repair work.

The meeting took place in the office of the Minister of Revenue at the Odisha Legislative Assembly. It was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy Department Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary of the Water Resources Department Subha Sharma, as well as high-ranking officials from the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner and other departments. The participants focused on concerted actions to restore the irrigation infrastructure and adhere to repair deadlines.
