Raids against livestock grazing violations have been conducted in Oyo State. The Chairman of the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA), retired Justice Aderonke Aderemi, reported on social media platform X about the apprehension of 20 cows during two operations in Ibadan. The reasons were suspicions of unauthorized grazing, keeping livestock in residential areas, and the destruction of crops.

The first operation took place at dawn on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in Batake village along the Ibadan-Eruwa road. It was prompted by a complaint from Adewolu Farms regarding the regular intrusion of livestock into the farm fields cultivating cassava, corn, yams, and cashews. Despite the herders' attempt to drive the animals away upon the inspectors' arrival, nine cows were successfully confiscated. The second operation took place at dawn on Thursday, October 1, in the Idi-Iroko area (Monyia, Ibadan), where another 11 head of livestock were seized due to being kept in a residential area and unauthorized grazing.

OYRLEA noted that these measures are aimed at enforcing the Oyo State Open Rearing and Grazing Regulation Law of 2019, as well as protecting local residents, farmers, and legitimate economic activities. The agency urged citizens to report violations through established communication channels and promised to review all complaints in accordance with the law.
