IMMA Round Table: discussion of regulatory priorities

The Micro Fertilisers Manufacturers Association (IMMA) is organizing a government-industry round table on September 17 in New Delhi. The event will bring together senior government officials, policymakers, regulators, and industry representatives to discuss key regulatory and policy priorities for the specialty fertilizer and biostimulant sector.

This meeting continues the initiatives of the 6th IMMA National Crop Nutrition Summit held in Mumbai in February 2026. The goal of the upcoming dialogue is to develop a practical consensus on licensing issues, reducing compliance burdens, promoting exports, and implementing GST 2.0.

IMMA intends to advocate for a "One Nation, One License" approach based on a centralized FCO data stack, interstate mutual recognition, and digital rationalization. The association also plans to discuss eliminating the duplication of specifications for liquid micronutrients, water-soluble mixtures, and advanced formulations, as well as involving NABL-accredited private laboratories to reduce testing times.

The focus will be on customs and export barriers, the use of free trade zone agreements, and export support for non-subsidized Made-in-India fertilizers. In addition, issues such as a uniform GST rate of 5 percent, the elimination of the inverted duty structure, and predictable tax refunds will be raised.

IMMA President Rahul Mirchandani noted that the sector is at a crucial stage of development, possessing the potential to strengthen domestic production and global expansion. To realize these opportunities, a predictable and science-based regulatory environment is necessary.
