FSSAI plans to tighten control over food products.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has initiated a review of regulations aimed at improving the quality and safety of food supplies. As part of this strategy, the agency is considering a total ban on the sale of analogue paneer across the country. Previously, restrictions on the sale of this product had already been introduced at the level of individual states, and now a transition to nationwide regulation is under discussion.

Additional measures will concern the rules for trading food products in the immediate vicinity of schools. The regulator has also put forward requirements for quick-commerce platforms: the sites will be required to display information about the production dates of goods in a more prominent and accessible form for consumers. These FSSAI initiatives are aimed at encouraging the choice of safer and more nutritious food products.
