Experience of Anantapur farmers: growing fruit crops in drought conditions

Mekala Shiva Shankar Reddy has achieved significant results in farming in arid territories. The farmer was able to transform arid lands into a prosperous 180-acre farm. To ensure stable yield, drip irrigation and fertigation technologies were introduced, allowing for the efficient use of water resources.

Diversification of production became the key to the farm's success: grapes, dates, and dragon fruit were included in the range of grown crops. This strategy made it possible to achieve an annual revenue of 2 crore rupees. In parallel, another local farmer, K. V. Ramana Reddy, confirmed the viability of innovations in the region by successfully mastering the cultivation of low-chill apple cultivars.

These examples show how the application of modern agrotechnical practices allows overcoming regional problems associated with water scarcity and achieving profit even in difficult climatic conditions.
