Delta State authorities plan to develop the agricultural sector through infrastructure support.

The Delta State administration has decided to support farmers and private investors by creating a favorable business environment. The main focus is on infrastructure development and stable power supply, rather than direct budget financing. During an inspection of Tatcha Farms, Amity Global Farms, and Manroy Livestock Farms, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced plans to construct a 33 kV power transmission line to meet the needs of farmers and businesses. Plans are also underway to improve road access to agricultural areas, including the construction of an access road to Amity Global Farms.

To develop the agricultural potential of the region, the state economic team is conducting inspections of enterprises to identify challenges and opportunities for growth. The authorities intend to distribute fertilizer and other resources among conscientious producers, emphasizing the importance of the targeted use of these assets. The Governor also noted that civil servants and other state residents are encouraged to engage in agriculture as a way to increase food security and create jobs.

Business representatives shared their plans and current challenges. The head of Amity Global Farms, Idama Amurun, reported on negotiations with Brazilian investors regarding the expansion of cassava cultivation and the establishment of facilities for its processing into starch and ethanol. Currently, the farm cultivates peppers and cucumbers, and its staff exceeds 300 employees. However, the company faces a shortage of working capital, difficulties in accessing land, a lack of production facilities, and delays in the delivery of day-old poultry.
