Constellation Brands will allocate $100 million to support farmers in three U.S. states.
The investment plan, designed for the next five years, is intended to strengthen the resilience of raw material supply chains for the brewing industry. The financial resources will be directed towards increasing procurement volumes from local farmers, as well as implementing initiatives to improve the viability of farm operations. According to the company, agricultural producers are currently facing significant challenges, including a reduction in sown areas, demand volatility, rising production costs, and adverse weather conditions.
To implement the project, the company is establishing an advisory committee called "Constellation’s Farmers Future." It will include farmers, representatives of industry associations, and local leaders who will participate in determining investment priorities to strengthen the agricultural sector. The committee’s work will focus on sustainable development, expanding access to markets, and supporting the long-term economic efficiency of farms in key production states.
Constellation Brands notes that agriculture is the foundation of their business. Currently, the company invests over 750 million dollars annually in working with American farmers and suppliers, purchasing approximately 80% of all barley exported from the USA. This decision has received support from officials in the states of Idaho, Montana, and North Dakota, as well as regional agricultural commissions and grain crop committees, who have emphasized the importance of a long-term partnership for preserving jobs and developing rural areas.
